Questions and Answers
I been smoking weed for past 5 years.
You (and the first two answerers) seem to be a bit confused. Smoking cannabis does NOT kill brain cells. Not at all! Contrary to what the others have posted, smoking cannabis does NOT cause your brain to be starved of oxygen. In order for your brain to be starved of oxygen and start dying, it needs to be totally deprived of oxygen for several minutes (like 3-4 minimum). What's confusing them is a prior "study" where gas masks were strapped on monkeys and they breathed nothing but smoke for a long period of time. This does not happen while smoking cannabis. Not even the US government propaganda sites claim that cannabis smoking kills brain cells anymore! That belief simply exists in myth now and is still disseminated even though it has been disproven (much like the "gateway theory").
Now, cannabis does kill brain CANCER cells ( Http://abcnews.go.com/Health/Healthday/s… ), but not brain cells themselves.
The US Government actually has a patent on the use of cannabinoids (including CBD, which is the second-highest prevalent cannabinoid in cannabis typically) as NEUROPROTECTANTS both in cases of trauma and age-related decline! Yes, they patented the medical use of cannabis in protecting brain cells.
I want to know cuz i see the druggies of our school smoke weed every day and they say it doesnt hurt you or anything but i called bull****** on that, and ive seen people smoke weed for like 4 years and there not brain dead yet how could this be? Does Marijuana kill the brain or is the gov't just trying to make us believe its bad for us?
Marijuana does damage the brain, but the extent of that damage relies solely on what breed of plant you're using, and what other things you're ingesting that may deter the brain decay.
All varieties of 'street' pot, have a very high level of THC, and a very low level of CBD(cannabidiol), this type of breed is the exact same type that will cause permanent long-term brain damage.
Cannabidiol has been known to reduce the negative effects of THC on the brain, without reducing the enjoyment of the 'high' you experience from consuming a marijuana plant… Unfortunately, most smokers don't realize this, and think to themselves that it's safe because of studies done many years ago.
The idea that it causes no brain damage comes from studies done back in the 60s and 70s, back when marijuana plants people used had a higher CBD potency than ours do now by a very large proportion… The evidence saying that marijuana doesn't damage the brain is faulty.
The above link will explain how to avoid brain damage onset by physical or chemical trauma, much like CBD does… So instead of having to go out and search for super expensive organic marijuana plants, you could take a supplement and be done with it.
Best of wishes.
I HEARD THAT WHEN YOU SMOKE ANYTHING THAT YOUR BRAIN DOESNT GET OXYGEN SO YOUR KILLING BRAINCELLS,BUT WEED ITSELF DOESNT IF YOU USE IT IN NON SMOKING MATTERS,SO TELL ME IS IT THE WEED(THC AND CBD'S) OR THE SMOKE.
It will temporarily slow you down for as long as you smoke it, but once you stop it goes away in a couple days to a week. No permanent damage.
